Updates!

I am so sorry for being a blog abandoner.  I've had at least one reader tell me they check everyday which makes me feel horribly guilty; but, can't we please cut a first time home buyer some slack?  Because I really am going absolutely bonkers over here.  We were hoping to close by last Friday but that didn't happen, now we're hoping to close by this weekend or early next week.  We already had to reschedule our move once, I'm really hoping we don't have to do it twice.

Anywho, hubby and I have been having some fun weekends to keep us busy and I thought I'd share that with you guys!

Last weekend we went geocaching.  What is geocaching you ask?  It's basically treasure hunting for grown-ups.  Someone goes to a location and hides a cache.  Sometimes a cache is small and just has a list for you to sign when you find it; but, oftentimes it has the list and some goodys.  Geocaching etiquette states that you can't take a goody without offering one back.  To find these caches you are given some coordinates to plug into your GPS and if you're lucky some clues and then it's up to you to find this usually quite well hidden booty.

For the last few weekends, hubby and I have picked a hike in the area and hit it on Saturday morning.  We live in a valley so there have been a lot of nice and steep hikes.  To spice up last weekends hike, we decided to geocache on our way up and looked up the ones that would be on our route.  Unfortunately we only found 1/3, but it was a nice big one as evidenced by the picture before the cut.

We traded a plastic duck for a Mardi Gras 2003 coin and took a picture with baby Jack Skellington.  He's come on all our caches so far, even the one where we got engaged.  It's just a silly little thing we do.

The view from the top of the hike!  Beautiful isn't it?

On our way down hubby took a little spill :(
Believe it or not, it actually looks better in this photo then it does now.  Now it's all bruised and all the little scrapes you can't see here are pronounced and noticeable.

We were so frustrated by our inability to find the other caches, that we decided to get a few others that were in the Home Depot parking lot while we went to get moving boxes.

The first one we just could not find, so we tackled the second one and got it fairly easily.
This was a list only cache.  The pen was hidden under the light pole bottom and this list was the backside of the magnet on the pole.  Pretty ingenious and in the middle of a parking lot.

The location of the second one gave us an idea as to where the first one would be and low and behold our hunch was right!
Another light pole one!  Once we had the idea it was much easier to find this one.  We didn't take anything because they didn't have anything good, but we did leave the little chicken.

3/5 for the day was much better odds that 1/3!

This past week was fairly uneventful for most of the week.  Except for me getting sick at the end of the week, to the point that today I sat on my butt on the couch with some weird stomach cramps.  I'd have preferred work over that.  Oh...and our fence was the victim of HIT AND RUN!!!

The night it happened hubby heard a sound at 11p.m. but just assumed it was a car door slamming.  But alas, it was not a car door.  Somehow, a car hopped the curb without hitting the truck, or the tree on the right and took out our fence.  Police reports were done, but that's about all we could do.  Very frustrating and makes me really hate people.

As for this weekend on Saturday, before I started feeling shiesty, we went to the local renaissance faire.  It was fabulous people watching starting with the bus shuttle to the location where there was a furry!  If you don't know what they are, read this: A Furry Education  Somehow I don't think they were about in renaissance faire.

The people were interesting and there were all kinds of things we wanted to buy.  In general it was a blast.  We walked away with a cutlass (yes a sword), a skull and cross bones scarf, a henna tattoo for me, and a mini cthulu for the hubby's desk.  It was a blast and we will definitely go next year.

Anywho, that's my update.  Hopefully soon I'll be able to tell you all we got the house.  Fingers crossed!

  1. Oh, I've been wanting to try geocaching for YEARS! We bought a GPS 7 years ago, did it once and then just...forgot. We want to start up again. Good luck on the house closing! House buying is so much harder than it looks at first glance. Sorry about the fence and your husband's knee.
